Sibi Commissioner Announces Completion of Key Water Projects and Commitment to Economic Growth

Sibi: Commissioner Sibi Division, Syed Zahid Shah, has reaffirmed the regional commitment to utilizing all available resources for community welfare and economic growth, marking significant strides in the Balochistan Integrated Water Resources Management and Development Project.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during a site visit, Commissioner Shah recognized the financial and technical support from development partners, notably the World Bank. He detailed completed initiatives aimed at enhancing clean drinking water supply to Sibi city, including the construction of two head tanks with a combined capacity of 200,000 gallons. These developments are set to improve access to clean water for thousands in Sibi city and surrounding areas, crucial for preventing water theft and ensuring availability during severe weather conditions.

Engineer Anush Khan, Deputy Project Director of the BIWRMD, outlined future plans to extend water pipelines from these tanks directly to homes and the repair of seven inactive public health engineering tube wells. Additionally, Commissioner Shah urged swift resolution of any obstacles hindering project progress to avoid delays in this critical infrastructure development. He emphasized that these efforts are integral to addressing broader challenges like food security and environmental sustainability in the region.
