Islamabad, The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is significantly impacting the growth of the IT and telecom industries in Pakistan, accelerating digitization initiatives and legal proceedings to introduce 5G technology within the country.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, The government, influenced by SIFC’s recommendations, has directed the Ministry of IT and Telecom along with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PEPRA) to enhance the speed and efficiency of digitizing procurement and other administrative operations using the Cloud Services Procurement Framework. This mandate ensures all government procurements are processed digitally.
Further developments include the near completion of the 5G auction process, scheduled within the current month. The Law Division has been tasked to expedite related cases in the Islamabad and Sindh High Courts to facilitate this rollout. Additionally, the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Affairs has allocated significant funding towards innovation and employment in the tech sector, approving 235 million rupees for the Pakistan Startup Fund and 229 million rupees for the E-Rozgar program.
