Sindh Government Plans to Boost Fish Exports and Harbor Cleanliness with Chinese Partnership

Karachi: The Sindh government is moving forward with initiatives to lift the European Union’s ban on fish exports and improve sanitation at the Karachi Fisheries Harbor. This was announced during a meeting chaired by the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Livestock, Fisheries and Katchi Abadies.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the high-level meeting included discussions with Hengzhou Jingjing Private Group and local authorities on enhancing harbor cleanliness and compliance with international export standards. Syed Najmi Alam, the Advisor, emphasized the government’s commitment to reviving the fish export sector, noting that three local companies have already been cleared by the EU, with a fourth nearing compliance.

He also mentioned a pilot project initiated under President Asif Ali Zardari’s direction, focusing on adopting advanced sea cleaning technologies through collaboration with the Chinese group, which has prior experience with the Sindh Solid Waste Management. The meeting concluded with plans for the Chinese group to conduct a detailed inspection of the Karachi Fish Harbor, followed by the finalization of a cleaning contract.
