Sindh Launches Major Solar Energy Initiative to Promote Clean Power

Islamabad: The Sindh government has announced the launch of the Sindh Solar Energy Project, a major initiative in collaboration with the World Bank aimed at transitioning to clean energy. The project will focus on harnessing solar power for government buildings and extending support to households across the province.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at a news conference in Karachi, detailed the scope of the project. It includes the conversion of all government properties to solar energy, which is expected to significantly reduce both the region’s carbon footprint and its energy expenditures.

The Chief Minister further outlined plans to distribute solar panels to approximately two hundred thousand households. This move is designed to mitigate the ongoing electricity shortages and high electricity costs affecting the province, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.
