Punjab Government Establishes Agriculture Commission to Enhance Farming Sector

Islamabad: In a move to address challenges within the agricultural sector and strengthen food security, the Punjab government has announced the formation of the Punjab Agriculture Commission. This new body is set to devise strategies that will bolster profitability and sustainability for farmers across the province.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Karmani will lead the Commission as its chairman, with the Minister for Irrigation and Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja Rehman serving as members. The Commission will comprise 31 members, including progressive farmers who are expected to bring practical insights to the table.

The primary objective of the Commission is to generate actionable recommendations to enhance food security and ensure profitable farming practices throughout Punjab. This initiative represents a significant step towards resolving ongoing issues faced by the farming community and promoting robust agricultural growth.
