Lahore: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) Board of Directors has approved the Implementation Plan for the organization’s revamping. This decision was made during the 30th board meeting, chaired by Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production. The meeting was also attended by Saif Anjum, Federal Secretary of Industries and Production, Socrat Aman Rana, CEO of SMEDA, and other board members.
Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision for the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan. He expressed satisfaction with SMEDA’s progress, stating that the future of Pakistan’s economy is closely tied to the growth of SMEs. He highlighted the government’s commitment to elevating Pakistani SMEs to international standards by engaging international SME experts.
The board discussed the committee formed by the Prime Minister, tasked with evaluating SMEDA’s current structure and suggesting improvements to transform it into a catalyst for SME growth. The revamping plan, which aligns existing SMEDA employees with new outsourcing initiatives, was a focal point of the meeting.
Previously, the revamping plan was presented to the Prime Minister on April 9, 2025, by the committee responsible for the restructuring strategy. The plan includes an “Outsourcing” model, approved by the Prime Minister, and subsequently endorsed by the SMEDA Board of Directors in the latest meeting.
