Speaker National Assembly Addressing the Ramzan Package Ceremony Organized by Women Parliamentary Caucus

Islamabad: Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has said that Parliament was fully cognizant about the plight of the women in the country and has passed more than a dozen legislative bills related to women during last three years. She said that Women Parliamentarians were striving hard for well being of the women and resolving the problems confronted to them. She said this while addressing the Ramzan package ceremony organized by women parliamentary caucus to indigent women of Islamabad in the Parliament House today.

Speaker said that women participation is imperative for national development. She said that women consist of more than half of the country population and could play a vital role in the national progress and prosperity. She said that under her supervision a Women Parliamentary Caucus had been established for well being on the women of country. She said that Parliamentary Caucus was playing a vital role to initiate legislation for betterment of the women and resolving their problems. She said that Islam given women respect dignity and equal rights and freedom to work.

She said that the Pakistani women have lot of potential and could play an active role in national development if the proper opportunities provided to them. She said that the government taking keen interest in provision of education and health facilities to women. She said that with the passage of time more and more women are entering in health, education and sector of economy. The speaker said that an educated mother could ensure a well trained, well behaved and well educated generation.

She stressed the need for more role of the women in decision making. She said that continuity of democracy is imperative for the progress and prosperity of the country. She called upon the masses to join hand to strengthen democracy in the country. She also lauded the establishment of Benazir Bhutto Income Support Program.

MNAs; Tahira Aurangzeb, Tasneem Siddiqui, Fauzia Ejaz, Bushra Gohar, Asyia Nasir and Shahnaz Wazir Ali Khan also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the objective of the Parliamentary Caucus and expressed their full confidence in the leadership of Madam Speaker. Later on madam Speaker distrusted Ramzan packages amongst the indigent women present there.
