Speakers urge world to designate India terrorist for being hostile to minorities

Islamabad, June 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speakers at an online function drew the attention of the international community towards the shrinking space for Muslims and other religious communities in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the Hindutva regime of India led by Narendra Modi. The event titled “Assault on Muslims places of worship (mosques in India)” was held via Twitter space and it was organized by Friends of Kashmir International.

The participants of the online event rejected the statement issued after Biden-Modi meeting in Washington as “‘Misleading, unwarranted’ and “contrary to diplomatic norms”. The speakers mentioned the rising incidents of attacks on Muslims including the violent assault on a Pulwama mosque, where Indian troops broke into the mosque and forced the worshippers to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in loudspeakers before the fajr prayers on Saturday morning.

The speakers urged the international community to designate India a terrorist country for blatantly violating the rights of minorities including the sanctity of religious places. Among those who participated in the event included Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, analyst Waqar Hassan, Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Yasir Rehman, Abdul Hameed Lone, Haroon Abbas, Iftikhar Gilani and PJ Mir participated
