Supernet Limited Partners with Global Humanitarian Organization to Transform Support Program Sites in Pakistan with Solar Energy

Karachi, Supernet Limited has recently secured a long-term agreement with the Global Organization, the largest global humanitarian organization, to upgrade and convert 100 sites of Pakistan’s largest social support program, the “Support Program,” to solar energy. The collaborative project, named ‘Solar Solutions,’ aims to bring sustainable and cost-effective power solutions to the targeted areas.

Under the agreement, Supernet and the Global Organization will initially focus on 68 sites in the first phase of implementation. The total project cost is estimated to be USD 1 million, with the potential to deliver significant economic benefits through energy conservation and the reduction of commercial electricity expenses across the targeted regions, particularly in Baluchistan.

In addition to the installation of solar systems, Supernet has been entrusted with the responsibility of operating and maintaining the entire project for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension for up to five years. This comprehensive approach ensures the longevity and efficient functioning of the solar-powered sites.

The ‘Solar Solutions’ project is projected to generate approximately 1,200 MW of solar power annually, resulting in direct electricity cost savings of around PKR 50 million per year for the Government of Pakistan. Furthermore, the implementation of this initiative is anticipated to yield a return on investment within three to four years of installation, while also providing free electricity, subject to nominal operation and maintenance charges, for over 20 years.
