Syed Ali Gilan’s continued illegal house arrest denounced

Srinagar, January 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum patronised by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has denounced his continued illegal house arrest. The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that the veteran Hurriyet leader was again barred from offering Juma prayers. He said that the puppet Chief Minister of the territory, Omar Abdullah, had broken all the past records regarding cruelties on Hurriyet leaders. He said that Syed Ali Gilani was kept under house arrest for longest period in the present regime.

Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, appealed the people of occupied territory to observe complete strike on January 26, the Indian Republic Day. He said that India had no right to celebrate its Republic Day in occupied Kashmir until it gave right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

He said that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world, but the fact of the matter was that it had deprived the people of Kashmir of all their democratic rights, all the fundamental freedoms and more essentially the right to self-determination guaranteed by the international community in the UN resolutions.

The veteran Hurriyet leader said that India had made promised the people of Jammu and Kashmir that they would be given an opportunity to decide their fate by themselves but despite the passage of over six decades, the commitment was yet to be fulfilled. He said that instead of listening to the people of Kashmir, the Indian government and its puppet administration in the territory were suppressing their voice through use of brute force.

Syed Ali Gilani said that Indian troops and police personnel had geared up surprise frisking and checking across the Kashmir Valley ahead of India’s Republic Day in the name of so-called security. He said that like always the Kashmiris would observe the 26th January as a Black Day.
