Turkish Jewellery Association’s delegation visits Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Karachi, September 01, 2014 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Turkish Jewelry Association comprising Mr. Oguz Ozdemir, Consultant TJA and Mr. Evindar Akcan, Expert TJA visited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday to invite KCCI members in Istanbul Jewelry Show which will provide a perfect opportunity to Pakistani manufacturers and exporters of jewelry products to take a good look at international jewelry products, hold B2B meetings, exchange information and meet suppliers from all over the world.

Commercial Attaché of Turkish Consulate in Karachi, Murat Mustu, President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees, KCCI Managing Committee members along with prominent manufacturers and exporters of Pakistan’s jewelry sector attended the meeting.

Highlighting the details of Istanbul Jewelry Show, Mr. Oguz Ozdemir, Consultant – TJA informed that Istanbul Jewelry Show will be staged at the Istanbul Fair Center from October 16 to October 19, 2014 which will be followed by a similar exhibition in the month of March next year. He said that Istanbul Jewelry Show is the unique meeting platform for the jewelry industry that carries a special importance as an outstanding trade bridge between Europe and Middle East.

He said that more than 800 manufacturers and exporters of Turkish Jewelry Association along with machinery and equipment manufacturers from 40 countries will also be exhibiting their products in this exhibition in which special arrangements have been planned for B2B meetings and exchange of information along with other facilities for Pakistani exhibitors and visitors willing to attend this exhibition of gold, silver and diamond jewelries.

He informed that the Engineering Department of Istanbul Trade University has a dedicated Jewelry Engineering Department which offers masters degree and doctorate. Clever students from Pakistan can study Jewelry Engineering at Istanbul Trade University which would certainly help in improving their knowledge and skills, besides pave way for exchange of information, he added.

Earlier, while welcome the delegation, President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki said that Pakistan holds huge resources of gemstone with several varieties at par with international standards in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and northern areas of the country.

“Pakistan has a potential yield of 800,000 carats of ruby, 875,000 carats of emerald and five million carats of peridot which remain unutilized”, he added. Abdullah Zaki noted that Turkish Jewelry Industry, which continues to grow with a stable and constant development, has become one of the prominent countries in gold and jewelry markets around the globe with momentum gained in the recent years.

Many significant opportunities for creating long lasting and highly valuable commercial partnership exist between Pakistan and Turkey. By exploring the competitive and comparative advantages, the two countries can increase trade and help promote new and better businesses.

He stressed that there was a need to effectively utilize trade talks, exhibitions and other trade promotion strategies which can prove beneficial for promotion of bilateral trade between the two countries.

He said that KCCI has always raised voice for technology transfers and enhanced investments as they believe that boosting bilateral relations and economic activities could help countries rapidly grow and prosper on a sustainable basis.
