UK and Pakistan Delegations Explore Communication Strategies at Lahore Chamber

Lahore: A delegation from the UK Government Communication Service International (GCSI) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to strengthen ties and explore strategies for improving government communication to support trade and economic development. The visit was led by Ms. Jessie Beham, Head of Communications at GCSI, alongside Communications Manager Benjamin Durston and Director General of TDAP Ms. Rafia Syed. LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad and Senior Vice President Engineer Khalid Usman were among the key speakers.

During the visit, TDAP delivered a presentation on the Pakistan Trade Portal, emphasizing its objectives to increase trade transparency, streamline procedures, and provide accessible trade data. This initiative aims to boost confidence among international buyers. LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad highlighted the critical role of effective communication in today’s economic landscape and expressed privilege in hosting the delegation from GCSI and TDAP.

Shad emphasized the importance of transparent and timely communication in building trust, which he described as the foundation of strong economies. He commended TDAP for their efforts in connecting public institutions with the business community. He noted that Pakistan and the United Kingdom enjoy longstanding relations and stressed the potential for collaboration in strategic communication to further enhance this partnership.

LCCI Senior Vice President Engineer Khalid Usman remarked on the involvement of GCSI, highlighting the growing commitment to leveraging digital communication for trade facilitation. He called for a briefing on the key functionalities of the Pakistan Trade Portal to assist exporters. LCCI officials noted that both Pakistan and the UK share an interest in advancing modern, data-driven communication tools to support trade expansion and institutional cooperation.

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed its dedication to enhancing export capacity, improving the ease of doing business, and building greater international confidence in Pakistan’s trade.
