Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Criticizes Indian PM Modi’s Meeting with Putin Amidst Kyiv Attack

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed strong disapproval of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Russia and his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, particularly highlighting the timing as it coincided with a devastating attack on Kyiv.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Zelenskyy’s reaction came through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he linked the warmth shown during Modi’s visit with the harsh reality of the conflict in Ukraine. He shared distressing images of a missile strike that occurred on the same day, targeting a children’s hospital in Kyiv, killing at least 37 people, including three children, and injuring 170 others. The attack also caused significant damage to nearly 100 buildings, including schools and maternity hospitals.

Zelenskyy’s poignant message underscored the juxtaposition of the friendly visuals from Moscow—including a photo of Modi and Putin embracing—with the grim aftermath of the missile strike in Kyiv. His post criticized the Indian leader’s interaction as a “huge disappointment” and a “devastating blow to peace efforts,” particularly condemning the friendly encounter on a day marked by violence and tragedy in Ukraine.
