Srinagar, June 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in India is using Hindutva slogan to defend criminals involved in rape. She was reacting to reports about plans by ‘Ayodhya seers’ to hold a rally in support of the Wrestling Federation of India chief, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing sexual harassment charges by female wrestlers.
“BJP has mastered the art of misusing religion and nationalism [Hindutva] to provide cover to rapists. I should know. During my tenure as CM, BJP ministers held a rally holding Indian flags supporting Kathua rapists. Against all odds, I ensured culprits were jailed and those ministers were sacked,” Mehbooba tweeted. Meanwhile, activists of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) staged a protest against unabated killings in the Kashmir valley and the failure of the authorities to ensure the safety of the civilians. Addressing the gathering, PDP leaders strongly condemned the BJP-administration for its failure on all fronts.
