Karachi: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has called on the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to facilitate partnerships and technology transfers with China. This initiative aims to bridge the technological gap for mutual benefit in sectors such as textiles, foodstuffs, and electronics.
Zulfikar Thaver, President of UNISAME, emphasized that collaboration with China could fast-track technological advancements in the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector. He cited a particular interest from the upper medium sector in collaborating with Chinese businesses on manufacturing drones for agricultural purposes.
UNISAME has compiled a list of potential collaborative projects, including the production of stationery, solar panels, and cosmetics. They have urged SMEDA to establish a help desk to provide industry feasibilities and engage with Chinese trade representatives to stimulate their interest in these ventures.
The UNISAME Council (UC) has offered to facilitate meetings between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs, with backing from local trade associations and chambers, to advance this initiative.
