Islamabad, July 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has said that transformation in Police culture is the need of time and this is the high time for change in the Police culture, as the people are taking law into their own hands. He said that attitude of Police towards public is always harsh and there is deficit of trust between Police and public. He said that young officers should revive the trust of people into Police system.
He said that new ASP’s are beacon light for the hopes of people. He said that on the other hand Motorway Police is the successful experiment of cultural transformation in Police System. He said that there is lot of complaints against the present Police System whereas Motorway Police has always been recognized with positive remarks.
He added that no organization can expel with good vehicles and good salaries. It is the honesty, courtesy, proactive attitude and spirit to help which can produce positive results in any organization.
He said that it is an alarming fact that every year 16000 people die in Pakistan and 100,000 in India in road crashes and it is due to lack of road safety awareness. Whereas in Pakistan, Motorway Police is the pioneer of Road Safety and in creation of awareness of road safety issues among masses.
He said that there are three “E”s i.e. Education, Engineering and Enforcement which are major factors of road safety but enforcement always play an active role in road safety and Police is the main character in enforcement.
He said that Motorway Police is positively addressing all the issues of road safety. He advised the under training ASP’s to thank the Almighty Allah who has given us this important post. He said, public is our main client who is deficit of trust on the present Police System and the young ASP’s are their hope who should revive their trust with good performance.
He said that Motorway Police has gained good name at National and International level due to its good performance and I firmly believe that very soon we will make it a Role Model in Asia. He urged that ASP’s(UT) should start their career with good ambitions to serve the public.
In the end IG, NH and MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema distributed shield to the under training senior ASP Bilal who also presented the shield of the NPF.
