WFP Commits to Supporting Rehabilitation of Flood Victims in Pakistan

Islamabad: The World Food Program (WFP) has declared its commitment to aiding the rehabilitation of flood affectees in Pakistan, a pledge made during a meeting with the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Coco Ushiyama, the WFP’s Country Director in Pakistan, voiced concerns about potential food shortages facing the flood-impacted populations and expressed the organization’s readiness to assist in recovery efforts. Minister Hussain, in response, assured the government’s support for WFP’s initiatives and emphasized the government’s ongoing priority to meet the food and nutritional needs of those affected by recent floods.

The meeting also highlighted WFP’s contributions beyond immediate food aid, including skills training programs for Pakistani youth, which Minister Hussain praised as an important aspect of the Program’s impact in the region.
