World Bank Delegation Meets Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT to Discuss Digital Economy Enhancement Project

Islamabad, A high-level delegation from the World Bank, led by South Asia Regional Vice President Martin Raiser, met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss the country’s digital advancements and the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP).

According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the meeting focused on Pakistan’s journey towards digital transformation, including initiatives in digital economy, connectivity, and the upcoming 5G rollout. Minister Khawaja emphasized the government’s commitment to digitalization, stating that the Digital Pakistan Policy aims to elevate the nation’s digital transformation and enhance social and economic prosperity through technological advancements. She highlighted the supportive role of the private sector, which is being encouraged to lead the digitalization process in the country.

The discussions also covered the progress of the Digital Economy Enhancement Project, with the World Bank delegation expressing appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts towards digitalization. Both sides agreed to continue their collaboration on implementing the various phases of DEEP, ensuring that the project meets its timelines and objectives.
