World Bank Pledges Support for Pakistan’s Development Initiatives

Islamabad, During a meeting with Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Martin Raiser, the World Bank’s South Asia Regional Vice President, confirmed the institution’s readiness to offer both technical and financial assistance to help Pakistan achieve its development goals. The discussion focused on aligning the World Bank’s support with Pakistan’s priority reform areas.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Aurangzeb provided an overview of Pakistan’s macro-economic situation and the government’s strategies for economic stabilization. He highlighted key areas of reform which include increasing the tax-to-GDP ratio, reducing energy costs, reforming state-owned enterprises, advancing privatization, and developing human capital.

Raiser assured that the World Bank Group would provide the necessary support for the implementation of these reforms. He emphasized the alignment of the World Bank’s country partnership framework with Pakistan’s governmental priorities, aiming to bolster economic stability and growth.
