Islamabad: A new report from the World Bank details Pakistan’s heightened vulnerability to climate change and its implications for public health. The report, titled “Climate and Health Vulnerability Assessment,” aims to guide Pakistani policymakers in developing strategies to mitigate climate-related health risks.

According to The World Bank, the assessment examines the intersections of climate change and health vulnerabilities in Pakistan. It notes that the nation’s diverse geography and heavy reliance on agricultural and water resources, coupled with high poverty rates and a growing population, amplify its susceptibility to climate-induced health issues. The report identifies key climate-related hazards, including heatwaves, vector-borne diseases, waterborne diseases, and nutrition risks, and assesses the adaptive capacity of Pakistan’s health system to manage these challenges.
