World Bicycle Day Celebrated Globally with Focus on Health, Equity, and Sustainability

Islamabad, Today marks the global celebration of World Bicycle Day, emphasizing the bicycle’s role in promoting health, equity, and environmental sustainability. This observance highlights the importance of cycling as a practical and eco-friendly mode of transportation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the United Nations General Assembly designated June 3 as World Bicycle Day back in April 2018. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about the multiple benefits of using bicycles—an economical, simple, and clean transportation option that supports environmental sustainability and enhances public health.

The theme for this year, “Promoting Health, Equity, and Sustainability through Cycling,” focuses on the bicycle’s capacity to contribute to better health outcomes, ensure accessible transportation options for all economic levels, and reduce environmental impacts compared to motorized modes.
