World Population Day Focuses on Inclusivity and Awareness in Pakistan

Islamabad: Today marks the observance of World Population Day, with this year’s theme being “To Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone.” The day is dedicated to raising awareness about pressing global population issues including family planning, gender equality, and reproductive health.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Asif Ali Zardari has issued a statement emphasizing the critical impact of rapid population growth on Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He highlighted that Pakistan’s population, which was recorded at 241 million in the 2023 Census, grows at a rate of 2.55 percent annually.

President Zardari called on all sectors of society—governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector—to unite in tackling the challenges posed by this growth. He stressed the importance of comprehensive efforts to manage population dynamics as a fundamental element of national development strategies.
