AAP Workers Detained in Jammu During Protest Against BJP

Jammu, Over 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers were detained today as they attempted to march towards the BJP headquarters in Jammu. The demonstration was part of a national protest against the arrest of AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the AAP activists, led by Om Prakash Khajuria, gathered near Trikuta Nagar aiming to protest outside the BJP office. However, their march was halted by police intervention. Officials reported that the detentions occurred after the demonstrators refused to disperse and insisted on continuing their march.

The AAP protest was sparked by recent actions against Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and later by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over allegations linked to a now-defunct excise policy. Despite being granted bail by a trial court, this was subsequently stayed by the Delhi High Court.

Khajuria voiced the protestors’ frustrations, stating their goal to “gherao” the BJP office in Jammu was a response to what he termed the “illegal arrest” of Kejriwal. The protesters wielded placards and voiced their dissent loudly, accusing the BJP of exploiting central agencies against opposition leaders and asserting that Kejriwal’s legal troubles were fabricated due to political fears.
