APHC Criticizes India’s Intransigence on Kashmir Issue

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced concerns that India’s refusal to engage constructively on the Kashmir dispute poses a risk to the rights of the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and threatens regional peace.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC Spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas remarked in Srinagar that the unresolved status of Jammu and Kashmir, acknowledged internationally as a disputed territory, necessitates a democratic resolution through a plebiscite under global supervision.

Minhas argued that the Kashmiri people’s determination for freedom remains unbroken despite India’s forceful attempts at suppression. He critiqued the aggressive stance of Indian leadership and the unsubstantiated claims against Kashmiri self-determination efforts as exacerbating regional tensions.

The statement further dismissed the assertions of political normalcy by BJP’s Manoj Sinha in IIOJK as insubstantial, pointing out that such narratives do not change the disputed nature of Kashmir nor its historical context. The rhetoric from Indian military and right-wing leaders only escalates conflict in the area.

Highlighting the aggressive policies of Narendra Modi’s administration, the APHC spokesman asserted that peace in South Asia is contingent upon a fair and democratic resolution to the Kashmir issue. He denounced India’s militarized response to Kashmiri activism and urged the international community to advocate for the Kashmiri right to self-determination, aligned with UN resolutions and the people’s aspirations.
