Army Chief Calls for National Unity and Rejection of Extremism in Pakistan

Islamabad: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the need for tolerance, unity, and moderation during his address at the National Ulema and Mashaikh Convention in Islamabad. He advocated for religious leaders to play a pivotal role in steering society away from extremism and towards peaceful coexistence.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir denounced those spreading unrest, stating that actions against the country’s Sharia law and constitution were not representative of Pakistani values. He also highlighted the role of the Pakistan Army in maintaining peace and stability under divine guidance.

The Army Chief also acknowledged the significant sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and praised their contributions to the nation’s security. Discussing regional issues, he mentioned Pakistan’s longstanding hospitality towards Afghan refugees and called for mutual respect and cooperation to prevent any form of opposition influenced by external adversaries.

General Munir reiterated Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, calling it an unfinished agenda of the partition, and expressed solidarity with Palestine, stressing the importance of resilience and self-reliance for national security. He affirmed Pakistan’s resolve to counter any threats to its peace and stability vigorously.
