Balochistan Chief Minister Orders Strict Enforcement of Safety Standards After Mine Tragedy

Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has called for stringent adherence to safety protocols in coal mines following a tragic accident at the Sanjadi coal mine that resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals, including workers. This incident has sparked a rigorous review of safety measures in the region’s mining operations.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Chief Minister Bugti expressed profound regret over the deaths and criticized the inadequate safety measures currently in place. He has mandated a thorough investigation to ascertain accountability and emphasized the urgent need for mine owners to comply fully with established safety standards.

The Chief Minister directed the Secretary of the Mines Department to enforce the safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) rigorously and to take strict actions against those failing to implement these measures. This directive aims to prevent further loss of life in the mining sector and to ensure the safety of all mine workers in Balochistan.
