Careem Pay Expands Remittance Services to Jordan, Offering Lower Fees and Quick Transfers

Dubai: Careem Pay has launched international money transfers to Jordan, offering a streamlined financial solution for UAE residents looking to support family and friends back home. This new service promises lower fees and faster transactions just in time for Eid Al Adha, a period when remittance activity typically increases.

The expansion allows users to send money directly to any bank account in Jordan with just a few taps on the Careem app. The service boasts fees up to 50% lower than those charged by traditional banks, with a fixed AED 10 fee per transfer.

Jordan is a major destination for remittances from the UAE, with over USD 1 billion sent annually. This money often supports school fees, medical expenses, and other essential needs. The introduction of Careem Pay’s service aims to make these transactions more affordable and efficient.

Transfers through Careem Pay are completed within 24 hours on average and can be up to AED 25,000 per transaction. The service supports transactions in Jordanian Dinars and offers zero fees on the first two transfers for new users.

Existing Careem Pay users who are part of the Careem Plus program can also benefit from zero-fee transfers above AED 1,500, along with other perks such as free delivery and discounted rides.

The launch comes ahead of Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha, times when many in the UAE send financial support to loved ones in Jordan. The timing is strategic, as it aligns with increased demand for remittance services during these significant occasions.

To use the service, customers need to open the Careem app, tap ‘Send Money’, choose Jordan as the destination, enter the amount and recipient’s IBAN, and then confirm the transaction.

This new offering by Careem Pay is designed to make sending money home as simple and cost-effective as possible.
