Chairman Senate Reaffirms Commitment to Press Freedom on World Press Freedom Day

Islamabad, On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed his appreciation for journalists’ role in upholding democratic values and contributing to society’s welfare globally. Gilani’s message highlighted the vital importance of press freedom in fostering accountability and promoting diverse voices within the democratic framework.

According to Press Information Department, Gilani, drawing on his background in journalism, emphasized his personal connection to and respect for the profession. He acknowledged the challenges journalists face, particularly in conflict zones and under oppressive conditions, and advocated for stronger protections to ensure their safety.
