Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting at the Police Training College Chohang Committee Room to review law and order issues in the province. The meeting, attended by senior officials, focused on measures to improve police and prosecution effectiveness.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, IG Punjab provided a detailed briefing on the law and order situation across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that there is no room for anti-social and criminal elements in Punjab. She announced a strict approach to dismantling gangs, particularly in the Kacha area, where recent crime has been a concern.
The Chief Minister made it clear that there will be no mercy or leniency for criminals. She also mentioned that the latest equipment and weapons will be provided to the police for operations in the Kacha area to ensure the complete eradication of gangs. Additionally, she stated that police officers who are honest and brave will be given important postings, and third-party monitoring through a special cell will be established to ensure accountability.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also highlighted the government’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes, announcing the creation of a special force to address drug issues. She expressed her concern about the impact of drug addiction on families, emphasizing that zero tolerance would be exercised.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed the need for combing operations to identify anti-social elements and directed that the scope of digital monitoring with cameras be extended across Lahore to improve security. She warned that no slack in law enforcement would be tolerated.
The meeting was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, IG, Additional IG, and other officials.
