Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Sends 10 Elderly Women on Hajj from Aafiyat Shelter

Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has fulfilled a heartfelt promise by arranging for 10 elderly women residing at Aafiyat (Darul-Aman), a shelter home in Lahore, to perform Hajj, as part of her commitment to caring for vulnerable populations.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the arrangements were made following a special directive by Chief Minister Sharif after the women expressed their wish to undertake the pilgrimage during her visit on Eid. The announcement was made during a recent meeting, where the women expressed their gratitude towards Chief Minister Sharif and PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for facilitating their journey. Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her joy and satisfaction at being able to assist these women in fulfilling their spiritual aspirations.

The initiative has garnered support from various political figures, including Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and others, who were present at the meeting. The women, overwhelmed by the gesture, shared personal sentiments and prayers for the leaders and the country. They are set to leave for Saudi Arabia on a 21-day Hajj journey, accompanied by the shelter’s in-charge and an assistant.
