Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Takes Strict Action After Roof Collapse at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat

Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken decisive action following a roof collapse at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat. The incident led to the removal of Dr. Asif Mahmood, Additional Charge MS of the hospital, and his direction to report to the Health Department. Additionally, three officers from the building department, including Executive Engineer Mohammad Rauf, SDO Fawad Munir, and Sub Engineer Sartash Ahmed, were suspended pending further investigation.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister ordered the formation of a 10-member inquiry committee to investigate the cause of the roof collapse. The committee is headed by Commissioner Gujranwala and includes the Deputy Commissioner of Gujrat, construction experts, and other officials. The committee is expected to submit its report on the incident within 72 hours.

Based on the committee’s findings, legal action will be taken against those found responsible for the collapse. The prompt response from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscores the seriousness with which the Punjab government is addressing safety and accountability in public health facilities.
