Chief Minister Punjab Rejects Increase in Water Charges to Keep Electricity Costs Stable

Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has directed officials not to increase water charges for hydropower projects, highlighting concerns over potential rises in electricity costs.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, in a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Finance and Development, Sharif also called for a significant reduction in sanitation charges proposed for the solid waste management outsourcing model. The committee approved various development projects, including road constructions and the Green Pakistan Programme, and confirmed funding for sending women from old age homes on Hajj.

Additionally, the Chief Minister approved transitioning 400 water filtration plants to solar energy and endorsed the development of an access road to Garments City, aiming to support sustainable development and administrative efficiency in the province.
