Close coordination needed between departments to eradicate dengue: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar

Karachi, October 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): Provincial Health Minister, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that dengue has become a global problem; it has also gripped Pakistan with an unprecedented intensity in last few years. In year 2015 till 18 October, the number of reported cases are 2487, out of which 2424 cases are from Karachi while 63 are from other districts of Sindh.

This he said while presiding over a meeting here at his office on Monday. Secretary Health Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, DG Health Dr. Murad Hasan Shah and Dengue Control Program incharge Dr. Masood Solangi also attended the meeting. He said that there was a dire need that all departments concerned must coordinate to eradicate dengue, adding that proper fumigation could eliminate dengue.

Jam Mehtab said ‘A mass awareness can help reduce the menace of dengue and funds have been released to make the drive effective ‘. The Secretary Health said that all deputy commissioners in the province had been directed to co operate in the campaign against dengue and Health department had provided dengue diagnostic kits and mega units platelets. Dr. Masood Solangi briefed the meeting about achievements and problems being faced. He also informed that Dengue Surveillance Cells had been established in all districts of Sindh that reported on daily basis.
