Srinagar, December 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed on the second consecutive day, today, to protest against the puppet authorities’ move of issuing domicile certificates to non-Kashmiri Hindu refugees and Indian brutalities in the territory.
Call for the shutdown was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the road.
Muhammad Yasin Malik in a media interview in Srinagar said that issuance of domiciles to non-state subjects was part of India’s conspiracy to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he would not hesitate to spill his blood to frustrate the nefarious designs of PDP-BJP regime.
Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in a statement in Srinagar said that as per the Partition Plan of South Asian subcontinent that was based on the two-nation theory these non-Muslim refugees were Indian citizens and it was responsibility of the Indian government to settle them in India.
Meanwhile, Indian police forcibly took the member of so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, into custody from Gupkar area of Srinagar and shifted him to his home at Jawahar Nagar. Engineer Rasheed was holding a sit-in outside the official residence of the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, from yesterday against the issuance of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiris.
Hurriyet leaders including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed and Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil visited different areas of the occupied territory and expressed solidarity with the families of the youth who have been martyred by Indian troops during the ongoing mass uprising. Addressing gatherings on the occasion, they said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.
On the other hand, a member of Indian Army-backed terrorist militia, Village Defence Committee, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at Jangal Gali in Tikri area of Udhampur district. This incident of suicide raised the number of such deaths amongst Indian troops, police personnel and VDC members in occupied Kashmir to 375 since January 2007.
