Congress Criticizes BJP for Escalating Violence in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: The Congress party has openly criticized the BJP-led Indian government for its inability to stabilize the increasingly volatile situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This condemnation comes amid rising incidents of violence in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Vikar Rasool Wani, the Congress chapter president in IIOJK, expressed his concerns during a press conference in Srinagar. Wani highlighted the recent surge in violence, noting that in the past 45 days, the Jammu region alone witnessed 15 violent incidents resulting in the deaths of 10 personnel from Indian forces, including two officers.

Wani attributed the deteriorating security situation to the policies of the Modi government, accusing it of exacerbating tensions and contributing to societal hardships over the past decade. He reiterated the Congress party’s call for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as a prerequisite for conducting elections in the region.
