Country cannot progress without giving right status to the industry: Administrator

Karachi, October 04, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that Country cannot progress without giving right status to the industry and industrialists. Jam Sadiq Bridge, 8000 road, 2000 road and plantation in Korangi Industrial Area would be started immediately whereas 4 more fire tenders would be given to fire station of Korangi Industrial Area.

He said this while addressing to the luncheon of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry as a chief guest.

Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, S.M. Muneer, Chairman of KATI Zubair Chhaya, Mian Zahid Hussain, Faraz-ur-Rehman, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Ex-Provincial Minister Shujat Baig, Sardar Yasin Malik, Masood Naqi and other traders and industrialists were present on this occasion.

Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said that at the moment there were 22 fire stations in Karachi whereas according to the population 600 fire stations were the requirement of the city whereas the quantity of vehicles was 34 which would be 40 after purchasing 8 new fire tenders which was not enough for the whole city.

Fire brigade was providing facilities to the citizens despite of having minimum resources. He said there were 2 fire stations at the time when Pakistan came into being which included Saddar and Ranchore Line fire stations and only 20 new fire stations were built in past 65 years which was not enough.

He said that the population of London was almost 81 million with more than 200 fire stations. He said that if Jam Sadiq Bridge was not reconstructed, any accident could take place there any time.

PC-I of 2.4 billion Rupees had been prepared for Jam Sadiq Bridge and CCWP had also been done however, the construction work could not started due to non-release of funds from federal government.

He said that progress of Karachi would make the federation strong as Karachi was the showcase and the economic hub of the country.

He said Karachi received rupees four billion under ADP last year but now it has been reduced to 3 billion which would directly affects the development works in Karachi. He said despite of this work on 8 flyovers initiated in Karachi and the remaining 5 would also start this month.

Four new tracks were being made in Malir River whereas the Korangi Crossing has been redesigned a portion of CBM bridge has been constructed.
