Srinagar: Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, the leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has publicly denounced the recently enacted criminal laws in India, labeling them a violation of democratic principles and calling for their immediate review.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which collectively overhaul the longstanding Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, were implemented on July 1. Tarigami argues that these laws, enacted under controversial circumstances with opposition MPs suspended and minimal parliamentary debate, significantly strengthen state powers at the expense of individual rights and legal protections.
