Shehbaz Sharif Stresses Multilateralism at SCO Plus Summit

Astana: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led the Pakistan delegation at the SCO Plus Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, on July 4, 2024. In his address, he emphasized the importance of multilateral dialogue and the adherence to international law, human rights, and humanitarian laws.

According to Press Information Department, Sharif condemned unilateral coercive measures, racist and xenophobic ideologies, including Islamophobia, and all acts undermining multilateralism. He highlighted the necessity of avoiding great power rivalry and resolving disputes through peaceful means, upholding international law and the UN Charter.

The SCO Plus Summit saw the participation of ten SCO member states, including Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, alongside guest countries Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Qatar, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan.
