Kashmir Declaration Gains Momentum in UK Elections

London: As the UK elections unfold, the Kashmir Declaration campaign, aimed at highlighting the historical responsibility of Britain concerning the Kashmir issue, has been officially launched.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the initiative spearheaded by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, has seen more than 150 parliamentary candidates endorse the Kashmir Declaration. This document recognizes Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory and supports the Kashmiri call for a plebiscite in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

The campaign has successfully enlisted candidates from various political backgrounds who have committed to advocating for the Kashmir issue both within and outside of Parliament. They have pledged to press the British government to engage with India over resolving the long-standing conflict.

Key figures among the endorsers include Jess Phillips of the Labour Party from Yardley, Liam Byrne from Hodge Hill, and several independents like Ayoub Khan from Perry Barr and Akhmed Yaqoob from Ladywood, along with representatives from the Green Party and the Workers Party of Britain. The campaign’s timing coincides with intense discussions over Kashmir and other international issues like the war in Gaza, spotlighting foreign policy in the domestic electoral agenda.
