Defence Minister Vows to Create World Free of Terrorism

Islamabad, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and extremism during a seminar held in Islamabad today. He emphasized the nation’s dual strategy involving both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to root out terrorist activities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Defence Minister highlighted the severe impact of extremist behaviors on Pakistan’s social cohesion, peace, and harmony. He noted that despite significant human and economic sacrifices, Pakistan remains at the forefront of the global fight against terrorism.

Asif stressed the importance of dismantling extremist propaganda and recruitment centers to foster a peaceful society. He underscored the critical roles of social mobilization and societal consensus in achieving sustainable peace. The Minister praised the effectiveness of the National Action Plan, National Internal Security Policy, and National Counter Extremism Policy guidelines in reducing the influence of terrorist organizations within the country.

Additionally, he advocated for confronting extremist ideologies to foster a culture of mutual care, well-being, and appreciation of diversity. The Minister also highlighted the importance of promoting cultural, linguistic diversity, and religious harmony as essential tools for peace, projecting an enlightened image of the country.
