Islamabad, In a pivotal meeting today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, hosted Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov. The visit, occurring on May 29-30, 2024, comes at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions centered on enhancing the bilateral strategic partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with both sides pledging to expand cooperation across various sectors including trade, investment, energy, security, and education. Key initiatives include bolstering economic ties, increasing cultural exchanges, and deepening cooperation in climate action and renewable energy. Both ministers also emphasized the importance of the Joint Working Group on Energy in fostering sectoral collaboration.
The meeting also addressed global and regional issues, with particular focus on the situations in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the recently restored sovereignty of Azerbaijan over the Karabakh region. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate within international frameworks such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organization, underlining their countries’ strategic alignment on significant geopolitical issues.
