Depression in Arabian Sea Moves Westward, No Threat to Pakistan Coastline

Islamabad: A depression over the west-central Arabian Sea has continued its westward trajectory over the past 10 hours and is now positioned approximately 1190 kilometers southwest of Karachi. It is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area by this afternoon as it approaches the coast of Oman, posing no threat to the coastal areas of Pakistan.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the system currently lies at around latitude 16.0N and longitude 60.8E, moving away from the Pakistani coast and closer to Oman. Squally winds ranging from 30-40 km/hour, with gusts up to 50 km/hour, are expected around the system’s center until this evening. The sea conditions are likely to remain rough during this period before improving later in the day. Fishermen in Balochistan have been advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into deep sea until the weather stabilizes.
