Deputy PM Dar Pushes for Rapid Finalization of Islamabad Airport Outsourcing

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has emphasized the need for a swift and transparent conclusion to the outsourcing of Islamabad Airport, aiming to enhance its revenue potential and improve the passenger experience.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the eleventh meeting of the Steering Committee on airport outsourcing, Dar instructed that the project be completed as quickly and transparently as possible. The Secretary of Aviation reported that the initiative has drawn interest from various European airport operators, some in consortium with local investors. These teams have recently visited the airport and are currently conducting legal and financial evaluations.

Despite the complexity of the project, Dar approved a two-month extension for bid submissions, originally set for July 15, to allow bidders adequate time for due diligence. This extension is expected to increase competition and ensure better project value. The Steering Committee has committed to supporting the bidders through the Ministry of Aviation and the International Finance Corporation, overseeing the process to prevent further delays.
