Emirates Announces Multibillion-Dollar Agreements with Safran

Dubai, Emirates the leading international airline, has announced a series of lucrative contracts with Safran, totaling over US$1.2 billion. The deal, which includes a US $1 billion agreement for the latest generation Safran Seats, is part of Emirates’ commitment to enhancing its new fleet of Airbus A350, Boeing 777X-9, and existing Boeing 777-300 aircraft.

According to Emirates, the contracts encompass Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class seats for the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X-9 aircraft. These new seats promise to set higher standards in terms of comfort, privacy, and convenience across all cabin classes, featuring spacious design, luxurious amenities, stylish finishes, and advanced technology.

This significant export order for Safran, a French company, also represents Emirates’ ongoing investment in France and the broader European region. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Safran in redefining cabin design and incorporating cutting-edge technologies. He emphasized the deal’s significance in strengthening ties between Emirates and Safran and supporting the aviation manufacturing industry in France and Europe.

Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, expressed pride in their long-standing strategic alliance with Emirates. He noted that the continuation of their 30-year partnership is a testament to Safran’s dedication to innovative solutions for aircraft interiors and critical equipment. Andriès emphasized the future growth potential for Safran, aligned with Emirates, a leader in the global aviation market.

The agreements also include Safran Cabin providing Galley shipsets for Emirates’ A350 fleet, featuring the latest in design and quality. These Galleys, for both the A350 and B777-9 fleets, will be equipped with advanced GEMini and NUVO galley inserts. Additionally, Safran Landing Systems will supply high-performance wheels and carbon brakes for the A350 fleet, offering weight savings and enhanced cooling for shorter turnaround times and increased fleet availability.

Safran Passenger Innovations will also provide its RAVE AeroConnect Ka solution to Emirates, enabling connectivity across multiple providers and frequencies. This solution will revolutionize in-flight connectivity by offering Emirates flexibility in entertainment and provider choice, to be installed on 50 Airbus A350, 60 Airbus A380, and 50 Boeing 777X-9 aircraft.

Besides equipping new fleets, Safran will also assist Emirates with retrofit programs for Boeing 777 and Airbus A380, supplying new seats. Furthermore, Safran Landing Systems has committed to exclusive services for Nose Landing Gear overhaul for Emirates’ A380 fleet, with facilities in Singapore and France providing tailored support covering the landing systems lifecycle.

Emirates has also entered a 10-year service agreement with Safran Aerosystems for the repair and maintenance of Boeing 777 safety and cabin systems components. Safran Aerosystems’ Middle East facility, near Al-Maktoum Airport in Dubai, will offer maintenance services to enhance Emirates’ operational efficiency.

The series of contracts with Safran mark a significant step in Emirates’ strategy to enhance its fleet and passenger experience while contributing to the aviation industry’s growth in Europe and beyond.
