Federal Health Secretary Assesses Mpox Prevention Measures at Lahore Airport

Lahore: Federal Health Secretary Nadeem Mahboob conducted a thorough review of the Mpox surveillance and screening protocols at Allama Iqbal International Airport today, aiming to bolster the country’s preparedness following recent global health concerns.

According to Press Information Department, during his visit, Health Secretary Mahboob was briefed by the Border Health Services staff on the current measures implemented to monitor and prevent the spread of Mpox. He expressed approval of the operational systems, which are aligned with the World Health Organization’s guidelines for disease surveillance and control.

Secretary Mahboob commended the effectiveness and robustness of Pakistan’s disease surveillance system, reassuring the public about the government’s capability to manage health emergencies. He emphasized the controlled situation of Mpox in Pakistan, noting that only two cases have been reported in the country amidst global alerts. The Ministry of Health remains vigilant, continuously monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
