Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has taken a significant step forward in the redistribution of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects by chairing a critical meeting aimed at transitioning these initiatives from the Pak-Public Works Department (PWD) to provincial and other federal entities.
According to Press Information Department, the session included the Secretary of Housing and Works, various working group members, and senior officials from the Ministry of Planning. The group reviewed the current execution status of 162 PSDP projects managed by Pak-PWD, deciding on the transfer of 138 projects to provinces and 24 to federal entities.
Minister Iqbal emphasized the critical oversight role of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in this process, mandating that all project transfers be vetted through this body. He ordered the preparation of detailed Position Papers for each project to aid in deliberations at upcoming CDWP meetings, aiming to ensure transparent and well-informed decisions about project assignments.
Furthermore, Minister Iqbal highlighted the urgency of these transfers and directed the establishment of rigorous Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation protocols. These measures are intended to facilitate a smooth and efficient transition, ensuring that all projects are clearly documented with their completion statuses and pending tasks delineated.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to enhance governance and operational efficiency in managing national development projects, with a collaborative approach involving both provincial and federal stakeholders.
