Federal Minister for Commerce Leads Delegation to Baghdad for Key Talks

Baghdad: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Mr. Jam Kamal, arrived in the Iraqi capital today to spearhead the Pakistani delegation at the 9th Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) session. This event signifies a crucial move towards bolstering bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iraq, marking the first JMC session since 2001.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Mr. Jam Kamal was received at Baghdad International Airport by Iraq’s Minister for Housing and Construction, Mr. Bangen Rekani. Also present were Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iraq.

In an initial meeting at the airport, the two ministers discussed topics of mutual interest, focusing on enhancing trade relations and economic cooperation. Both expressed their optimism about revitalizing bilateral engagements and addressing shared challenges.

The 9th JMC session, scheduled to take place during Mr. Jam Kamal’s visit, is set to explore new opportunities for economic collaboration. This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Iraq in sectors such as trade and infrastructure.

The historic nature of this session reflects the mutual determination of both countries to deepen their partnership, aiming to renew relations after a hiatus of over two decades.
