Finance Minister Aurangzeb Engages with Huawei CEO on Digital Initiatives in Islamabad

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Huawei Pakistan’s CEO, Mr. Sun Xiaofei, and his senior management team today to discuss potential digital initiatives and collaborations that could enhance Pakistan’s ICT sector.

According to Press Information Department, Mr. Xiaofei presented an overview of Huawei’s contributions to the ICT industry in Pakistan over the last 25 years, emphasizing the nation’s capacity to become a significant IT hub. The discussion also covered Huawei’s Pakistan Global Service Centre, which supports partners across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. The Huawei team proposed collaborative projects in areas such as tax digitalization, e-invoicing, revenue automation, and IT applications aimed at advancing Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Minister Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for Huawei’s proposals and highlighted the Federal Board of Revenue’s ongoing efforts to digitize the tax system. He noted the potential for significant advancements through the effective use of existing data. The minister also welcomed Huawei’s invitation to visit their Shenzhen headquarters to further discuss finance and digital economy cooperation with Huawei’s executive leadership.
