Finance Minister Discusses Economic Support and Opportunities with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister

Islamabad, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Gulbar Khan, met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss ongoing federal support and economic opportunities for the region. The meeting took place at the Finance Division with the presence of the Federal Finance Secretary.

According to Press Information Department, Chief Minister Khan expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support, particularly noting the wheat subsidy that has benefited Gilgit-Baltistan. He appealed for further assistance in several key areas to be addressed in the upcoming budget. In response, Senator Aurangzeb highlighted Gilgit-Baltistan’s potential as a prime tourist destination and a rich source of gems and minerals. He encouraged the local government to leverage these resources to enhance regional revenue and development. The Finance Secretary also emphasized the federal commitment to supporting investment in the region, reflecting on how this has been embedded in the budgetary provisions.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to collaboratively tackle challenges and capitalize on opportunities for the betterment of Gilgit-Baltistan and its people.
