Finance Minister Leads Inaugural Steering Committee for UK-Funded REMIT Programme in Islamabad

Islamabad: The first steering committee meeting for the Revenue Mobilisation, Investment, and Trade (REMIT) programme, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), was chaired today by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, co-chaired by British High Commissioner Jane Marriot, was attended by key government figures including the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr. Jehanzeb Khan. The committee reviewed the programme’s achievements in areas such as revenue mobilisation, investment climate, macroeconomic governance, and trade, particularly noting the integration of gender and climate change considerations.

The Minister praised the progress made and called for more proactive engagement from government stakeholders to implement short, medium, and long-term economic initiatives. He stressed the importance of inclusive economic growth supported by development partners and focused on enhancing government performance and implementation. Jane Marriott expressed gratitude for the Minister’s dedication to reform and assured continued FCDO support for high-priority areas.
